Las Palmas Property: Laura Leyshon at RE/MAX Cony
Laura Leyshon
I moved to Gran Canaria in 2002 to spend a year learning Spanish as part of my degree.
I met my husband to be Alex and, after a whirlwind courtship, I returned to England to finish studying before escaping back to the sunshine.
After three years of working as a teacher and saving every cent we left Gran Canaria to go travelling. We wanted to make sure that we had chosen the best place we could find to live.
After two years and 30 countries we came back to Gran Canaria, sure that we’d chosen the right spot to start a family.
After a couple of years and a couple of children I realized that I didn’t want to teach full time and started working for RE/MAX Cony.
RE/MAX Cony Overseas
Cony was the first RE/MAX office in Gran Canaria and 20 years later is now one of Las Palmas’ leading estate agencies.
Buying or selling a property with RE/MAX gives you all the security that comes with using a household name and access to almost every property on sale in Las Palmas and Gran Canaria.
Las Palmas Property
With my local knowledge and RE/MAX Cony’s excellent support, you can be sure that we can help you to find the right property in the right place, and help you through the purchase process and settling in period.
I want all my clients to be as happy as we are in Gran Canaria and that starts with finding the right home.
Top Reasons to Live in Gran Canaria: The Barber

Old school Gran Canaria barbers seem to exist in a time bubble. Their chairs are ancient, wrought iron contraptions, they still use steel scissors and cut throat razors, and the photos on the walls were faded when Franco popped his clogs. Their only nod to modernity is the buzz razor. [Read more…]

Las Palmas Rental Yields Second Highest in Spain
A study by real estate portal Idealista.com has found that average rental yields in Gran Canaria’s capital city are the second highest in Spain at 4.7%. Rental yields in the city are higher than most cities around the world.
Las Palmas’ average rental yield compares favourably to Madrid at 4.1% and Barcelona at 4%. It is also much higher than average yields in London (3.4%) and Hong Kong (3.1%). Of course, the right property in the right location in Las Palmas offers a much higher yield.
Idealista.com’s study chief Fernando Encinar expects rental yields to continue to climb and predicts a boom in buy-to-let investment in the coming months and years.
